People in Portland, Oregon love to curate a “weird” persona to fit in. Somehow in a society where being “weird” is a norm, you can still feel like the most outcast person in the room. As an artist, there are so many spaces and opportunities to feel like my work can be misunderstood and not given a chance. In Portland, it feels hypocritical to have this conversation come up so often but looking at the clique-y nature of Portland, I should be numb to the surprise. It was a miracle to have found another creative who felt the same. Lillian has red hair too. We then thought, who better to bring this up with than the city itself?
